Sunshine Coastal Bliss
The first rays of sunshine are finding their way through the perpetual cover of clouds and mist.. what better time for Adam and I to hit the road, board a ferry, and travel to a place where the beaches are wide and empty, people greet you wherever you go, and stress is as good as non existent.
This is the Sunshine Coast.
I have never been here before, despite moving to this beautiful country about eight years ago. And after a short drive with the car to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal, and a truly breath taking boat ride through the deep blue waters of the Pacific, we landed at the part of the mainland you can only reach by water (or else you’d be in for one looong adventurous car ride…).
The Sunshine Coast sure does have an island feeling to it. People are so friendly, traffic is mellow, and nature is immediately taking you in and surrounding you with overwhelmingly beautiful views into any direction.
Letting my view wander over the endless seeming ocean waves enriches me with a calmness I so craved. Sunshine touches my face gently as that nice older lady in the coffee shop fills me in on her life story as if we were long acquainted neighbors just meeting for the latest chat. Life is good. So good that we forget about the early rise at 5am, the sleepy car ride, the dazed first morning hours, and after a few adventurous hours of exploring this stunning part of the west coast we calmly drift asleep to the rushing sound of the waves, on top of tiny rocks and fine sand, nestling together in a quiet corner of a deserted beach, just listening to the sound of nature and our deep, peaceful breaths. This afternoon nap was the best sleep I ever had. Nature is truly healing. Stress is leaving my body.
I will be back soon.
