Benefits Of Enjoying The Food You Eat!
Food is such a wonderful thing! Especially when it looks all colorful and yummy!
I try to prepare all my daily meals with fresh and healthy ingredients, which keep me strong, energized – and happy. I also like to lay them out nicely and pretend they’re for a cover of a magazine, because it tastes even better when it looks so yummy you just want to get buried in it! Haha.
The more colorful a dish the higher is the possibility it’s really healthy (besides if you use food coloring… that’s not what I mean). If the building blocks of your lunch or dinner contain more than 3-4 natural colors (think of peppers, leafy greens, fresh fruit, legumes, salad toppings…), it doesn’t even look mouth watering, it covers a lot of food groups which contain lots of valuable nutrients for your body. I will go more into te health aspect of food later.
This blog is mostly about giving you an inspiration to eat consciously.
Take some time to prepare something tasty, and that doesn’t mean you need to spend a lifetime in your kitchen. Knowing all ingredients of your meal will make you eat healthier & more consciously.
Take some time to sit down, without the distraction of a TV or a cell phone, and focus on the yumminess on your plate.
Take some time to taste, to chew, to enjoy every bite. Food shouldn’t be swallowed within minutes, but rather enjoyed. A slow eating process allows your stomach to digest every bite better and you’ll feel satisfied sooner, ergo you will need less food and most likely won’t get this awful stuffy feeling that appears when you ate too much too fast.
Important for me is, I don’t like diets. I don’t like to be restricted when it comes to food, and I know the occasional Nutella or grilled cheese sandwich is really good for the soul! But why not make it healthy? Use multigrain products, brown rice, pasta or bread. Add healthy sides to your splurge. If you like eating pizza, and it makes you happy, you can. But maybe make it yourself, or if you have to order pair it with a salad. If you don’t go overboard you can still enjoy your favorite meal while staying healthy and happy with your weight.
A stress-free, healthy, and attractive meal will support you throughout your day so much better than any fast food or frozen dishes can. Try it out!
