Love and loss

We only realize what we had
When it’s lost. Long gone.
Extracted from my heart
My body cold and empty
Shaking from memories
That keep torturing my soul.

He wasn’t mine to keep
A heart beating next to mine.
A love growing ever so deep.
Not mine to keep.
Far away in the distance
Your words all make sense
But although I hear the sound
They struggle to reach my heart.
The tears are falling
Warm streams across my face
There’s hope in each one of them
And I wish I could keep them
Inside me. Fire and Ash.
Burnt out the light
That once flickered and glowed.
Warm and fuzzy turned quiet and cold.
You showed me the light
And we danced in the rain
But when the river of blood keeps pouring
Out of self inflicted wounds
Life just doesn’t make sense
Until you take my hand again
And we dance in the rain
Until the pain will fade away.
