People who change your life
I stopped talking to most people recently. It’s rare for me to stop talking so you know it must have been a tough time haha.
Long story short (because I don’t want to focus on bad stuff) – Pebbles the RV had motor issues and I had to make the decision of either saving her – and putting a LOT of money and time into the repair – or saving myself time and money, quit this trip and go back to Vancouver.
I was devastated.
I felt there is nothing really to go back to. All my possessions is in storage, Vancouver is still filled with memories of a life I will never have again, and my ultimate dream is to stay to California. So I made the decision of spending the money, and as my dad would say ‘it’s just money’. I am beyond thankful to have had the help of my amazing parents, and a wonderful family that turned out to be a saviour within all these bad times.
Allen and Adehl took me back to their house, gave me a room to sleep in while my RV was in repair, gave me food (and the opportunity to introduce the family to some healthy Thai dishes), and the most amazing company a stranded traveller could ask for. I could use their internet for work, played with the dogs, had amazing conversations with Mama (grandma), and drove some quads in the snow!
The repair took extremely longer than expected, but I have never felt so blessed being able to meet and spend time with such giving, open and warm people. I definitely gained a new family in my life that I will always think of.
Life is full of surprises, bad or good. But with the right attitude everything is a life lesson learned, and time well spent.
