Demetria Estate Winery, Santa Ynez Valley

People who know me know that alcohol and I never had a good relationship. I stopped drinking almost completely when I was 19, and started slowly a few years ago (besides that one fun drive to a Mad Caddies show where I got literally wasted on a pack of liquor filled chocolate candy..) Nothing really bad ever happened, but I like being clear headed, and to choose my intelligence and self-respect over a few weekends of drunk, silly nights. Heck, I can be fun and silly without alcohol thankyouverymuch.

Visiting Santa Ynez valley and getting access to all the beautiful sorts of wine, which I learned is really an art to create, opened me up to enjoy rather than use it to get drunk. As it should be.

Demetria Estate Winery

Demetria is not your average winery, but a beautifully located retreat far away from cities and towns, quiet, idyllic, peaceful, and it comes with a lot of happy people who know what they’re doing. I am happy to be able to meet Ray, Alexis, John, Steve, Christina, Craig, Harry and all the others. Despite having no cell phone reception (but hey, where in the valley do I actually have reception anyways) it was and still is one of my happy places.
